Nearly a month after the widely publicized incident, Scottie Scheffler’s arrest prior to the second round of the 2024 PGA Championship remains one of the biggest stories in golf. Scheffler, who is leading this week’s Memorial Tournament after two rounds, addressed the media on Tuesday following the Louisville Metro Police Department’s announcement that charges against him had been dropped.

“It was definitely a bit of a relief, but not total relief,” Scheffler said. “Because that’s something that will always, I think, kinda stick with me.”
On Friday, just days after the charges were dismissed and nearly a month after his arrest, new bodycam footage from the incident was released by the LMPD. In the footage, an officer could be heard asking Scheffler a few golf-related questions.
“So I assume you’re pretty good if you’re playing in the PGA,” the officer remarked.
“I’m alright, yeah,” Scheffler responded modestly.
“Is Tiger [Woods] as good as they say he is?” the officer asked.
“He’s pretty dang good,” replied Scheffler, who is currently ranked World No. 1.
Despite the chaotic morning before his second round, Scheffler managed to finish the PGA Championship in a tie for eighth place. He continued his strong performance by securing a runner-up position at the Charles Schwab Challenge a week later and currently holds a three-shot lead at The Memorial Tournament.
That’s certainly better than just “alright” in our view.
Meanwhile, Tiger Woods, who missed the cut at the PGA Championship after finishing his first two rounds at 7-over, is aiming for a comeback at Pinehurst later this month.
