Bob MacIntyre made a memorable return to tournament play at Pinehurst No. 2, marking the occasion with a heartfelt gesture by distributing Tunnock’s chocolate caramel bars to several fellow players. Among the recipients was past champion Matt Fitzpatrick, who eagerly sampled the Scottish treat.
Fresh off his victory at the RBC Canadian Open, MacIntyre had taken a brief break, opting to skip the Memorial Tournament to enjoy a celebration back home. It was during this time that he acquired the chocolate bars that he later shared. Notably, he also welcomed a familiar face back to his team: Mike Burrow, who had previously caddied for him at the PGA Championship in Valhalla.
Following his father Dougie’s heartwarming stint as caddie during MacIntyre’s emotional win in Canada, Dougie returned to his regular job as a greenkeeper. Burrow has now been appointed as MacIntyre’s full-time caddie. MacIntyre has seen a series of caddies over recent seasons, including Greg Milne, who had two tenures, as well as Scott Carmichael and Mike Thomas. Burrow seemed delighted to resume his role, appearing on the range with MacIntyre, content and ready for the upcoming challenge, even if he didn’t get a Tunnock’s bar himself.
