Bryson DeChambeau’s agent, Brett Falkoff, was reportedly involved in a heated confrontation with Golf Channel’s Damon Hack regarding the network’s coverage of the golfer. This intense exchange is said to have occurred shortly after DeChambeau completed his third round at the 2024 U.S. Open, held at Pinehurst No. 2, where DeChambeau currently holds a three-shot lead going into the final round today, offering him a prime opportunity to secure his second major championship.
According to Kevin Van Valkenburg of No Laying Up, the altercation took place right behind the 18th green as DeChambeau was interacting with fans, signing autographs, and speaking with accredited media. Van Valkenburg recounted the incident on a podcast, stating, “Bryson’s agent, Brett Falkoff, and Damon Hack got into a big shouting match right behind the 18th green as Bryson was wrapping up. All the media gathered there could overhear the exchange — it wasn’t a private conversation. The argument, which extended into the parking lot, involved Falkoff accusing Hack and his network of unfairly criticizing DeChambeau and demanding better treatment.”
Falkoff reportedly told Hack, “You guys have talked a lot of s— about Bryson. And you think now you can get whatever you want? I want to give him the option to decline the opportunity.” This confrontation highlights the ongoing tensions surrounding the coverage of LIV Golf League players, of which DeChambeau is a prominent member, having joined the Saudi-backed tour in June 2022.
Yahoo Sports reporter Jay Busbee confirmed the altercation on social media platform X, adding credibility to Van Valkenburg’s account. Notably, DeChambeau himself was not involved in the argument.
This incident underscores the broader controversy surrounding the LIV Golf League, which has been criticized for its connections to Saudi Arabia, a country accused of attempting to use global sports to improve its international image.
