Golf presenter Amanda Balionis opted to miss Rory McIlroy’s dramatic US Open weekend, choosing instead to enjoy a sun-soaked beach getaway. The CBS Sports reporter shared a bikini-clad photo on her Instagram, capturing her relaxing weekend in the Hamptons, a popular seaside destination in the US.
Balionis has been the subject of rumors suggesting a romantic link with McIlroy, who had a weekend to forget at the US Open. The Northern Irishman entered Sunday’s final rounds in North Carolina with a two-stroke lead but ultimately lost his advantage, handing the title to Bryson DeChambeau.
Following his disappointing performance, McIlroy quickly left the Pinehurst course and returned to the £17 million Florida mansion he shares with his wife, Erica Stoll. This US Open defeat adds to a tumultuous period for McIlroy, who recently reversed a decision to divorce Stoll. In May, reports surfaced that the couple had filed for divorce, only to reconcile ahead of the US Open.
Addressing the situation, the four-time major winner told The Guardian, “Over the past weeks, Erica and I have realized that our best future is as a family together. Thankfully, we have resolved our differences and look forward to a new beginning.”
Between the filing and the reconciliation, there was speculation about a developing romance between McIlroy and Balionis. The golf presenter, who has been seen without her wedding ring, was rumored to have shared a warm hug with McIlroy following this month’s Canadian Open. However, any potential relationship seems to have fizzled out as McIlroy and Stoll appear to have mended their marriage. Balionis’ carefree Instagram post suggests she is moving forward with her life as well.
McIlroy, reflecting on his performance, announced he would be taking a break from golf. He posted on X, “Yesterday was a tough day, probably the toughest I’ve had in my nearly 17 years as a professional golfer. Firstly, I’d like to congratulate Bryson. He is a worthy champion and exactly what professional golf needs right now. I think we can all agree on that… As I said at the start of the tournament, I feel closer to winning my next major championship than I ever have. The one word that I would describe my career as is resilient… I’m going to take a few weeks away from the game to process everything and build myself back up for my defense of the Genesis Scottish Open and The Open at Royal Troon. See you in Scotland.”
