Scottie Scheffler Goes Viral After Refusing to Sign Autograph for Fan

Scottie Scheffler is one of the most well-liked players on the PGA Tour, but fans never miss a chance to throw a little shade. When the Dallas Mavericks, Scheffler’s hometown team, lost to the Boston Celtics in the 2024 NBA Finals earlier this week, he got his fair share of ribbing. This week, the PGA Tour is at the Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands, which is not far from Boston. It was no surprise that some local fans saw this as the perfect opportunity to tease Scheffler.

A few Celtics supporters approached him and asked for his autograph on their Celtics hats. Scheffler, however, declined. A video of Scheffler recounting this interaction has garnered over 500,000 views on social media.

Frankly, it’s hard to fault Scheffler for turning down the autograph request. Had it been a shirt or a hat not emblazoned with the logo of the team that just beat his beloved Mavericks, he likely would have been more than willing to sign. In this case, though, it’s easy to understand why he declined.
