Tiger Woods is reportedly in discussions to participate in the US Senior Open for the first time in two years. This prestigious tournament, exclusive to golfers over 50, is considering modifying its rules to accommodate Woods’ participation.
Woods, who will turn 50 in December 2025, will become eligible to compete in the tournament. Due to severe injuries from a car crash two years ago, Woods has been using a golf cart in recent tournaments. Following ankle surgery last year, he has been seen hobbling on the course, highlighting the challenges he faces in walking during play. The tournament has strict regulations regarding the use of carts, typically only permitting them under specific circumstances.
However, Steven Stricker, the tournament host, has indicated that the rules could be adjusted if Woods decides to join the competition. Stricker expressed a willingness to accommodate Woods, stating, “Let’s make sure he can play. You hate to make special rules but if we can get him out here with a cart, let’s do it, you know what I mean. We should do everything we can.”
The potential rule change reflects the recognition of Woods’ status and the desire to ensure that he can participate in the US Senior Open, providing him with the opportunity to continue competing at a high level despite his physical limitations.
