LIV Golf has experienced a significant disruption to its free streaming services following the sudden closure of Caffeine TV. The platform, which branded itself as “the home of live sports and community,” was one of the key providers for LIV Golf’s first-round coverage.
Established in 2018, Caffeine TV partnered with LIV Golf at the beginning of 2024, promising a fresh and younger audience compared to traditional broadcasters. In February 2024, LIV Golf praised Caffeine TV for offering significant exposure to the league and its original content. However, the partnership has now abruptly ended after less than six months.
Caffeine TV, which also streamed basketball, combat sports, and football, announced its immediate shutdown on Wednesday, June 26, citing a lack of profitability as the primary reason. This closure comes despite the platform amassing 61 million monthly users and 4 million daily users.
In an official statement posted on its website, Caffeine TV hinted at a potential future comeback but confirmed its operations are ceasing for now.
LIV Golf’s Friday coverage will continue on The CW App and LIV Golf Plus, which do not require subscriptions. Additionally, Saturday and Sunday events will still be broadcast in the USA on The CW, The CW App, and LIV Golf Plus.
The timing of Caffeine TV’s closure is particularly impactful, coming just two weeks before the next LIV Golf event in Andalucia, Spain. Nevertheless, LIV Golf remains accessible globally through the LIV Golf Plus app, the LIV Golf YouTube channel, and over 20 international broadcast partners.
