This incredible feat makes Bensel Jr the first player to accomplish back-to-back hole-in-ones in a professional competition since John Hudson achieved it at the European Tour’s Martini International at Royal Norwich in 1971.
Reflecting on his achievement, Bensel Jr told NBC, “It was just unbelievable, the rarest thing you could ever imagine. It was so much fun and excitement.” He went on to describe the moment, “The first one was great and got me under par for the day. Then, when the second one happened, I just couldn’t believe it. To think that could happen was amazing. I was joking around, saying let’s go for another one, and it happened to go in. We all went nuts.”
Bensel Jr also shared his emotions, saying, “It felt like an out-of-body experience. I was more excited than I wanted to be.”
Despite not making the cut at the US Senior Open, Bensel Jr’s remarkable accomplishment will surely be a memorable highlight of his golfing career.
