Bernhard Langer bid farewell to the DP World Tour during the BMW International Open, marking the end of an illustrious era in professional golf. The 66-year-old, who has a storied career spanning over five decades, missed the cut after carding a 71-73 to finish at even par at the Golfclub München Eichenried in Munich, Germany—just 45 minutes from where he grew up.

Reflecting on his journey, Langer shared, “It’s hard to put into words. Growing up in a village of 800 people where nobody knew what golf was, it’s been a dream come true for me.” He recalled the challenges of pursuing a career in a sport that was virtually unknown in his hometown. “People didn’t even know what a golf professional was. It was difficult and complicated, but it was my dream, and I lived it for 50 years.”
Langer expressed deep gratitude for his career and the opportunities the DP World Tour afforded him. “I have wonderful memories from all over the world, not just in Europe but also in Asia, Australia, Japan, America, and South Africa. I traveled the world and met with kings and queens, played golf with all sorts of people—whether successful businessmen or just the average butcher or bricklayer. It was fun, it was great.”
After his round, Langer was met with a rousing cheer from the German fans as he removed his visor. The golf legend shared emotional embraces with fellow German golfers Marcel Siem and Martin Kaymer, bringing his journey on the DP World Tour to a heartfelt close.
