Pablo Larrazabal, a prominent European golf star and former LIV Golf player, has made a firm declaration regarding his future on the PGA Tour. Despite encouragement from fans, Larrazabal has unequivocally stated that he will never take on a full schedule in the American series.
For 15 years, the 41-year-old Spaniard has been a mainstay on the European Tour, where he has secured nine titles, including last year’s victories at the Korea Championship and KLM Open. Currently ranked 150th in the world, Larrazabal has also participated in golf’s major tournaments, though with limited success, having missed the cut in 15 out of 20 attempts. His most recent major appearance saw him tied for 65th at the 2023 PGA Championship, followed by missed cuts at both the US Open and The Open in Liverpool.
Despite his established presence on the European Tour, the prospect of competing on the PGA Tour seems less appealing to Larrazabal. Although fans have expressed a desire to see more of him in the American circuit, the Barcelona native is clear about his stance. In response to a fan’s request on X (formerly known as Twitter), Larrazabal responded: “Thank you, Felix, but I will never play a full PGA schedule…”
Larrazabal’s reluctance comes despite the fact that the top 10 players in the Race to Dubai standings, the European Tour’s ranking system, automatically qualify for the PGA Tour. Currently 50th in the Race to Dubai, Larrazabal still has time to break into the top 10. Nevertheless, the new father seems uninterested in the extensive commitment required for the PGA Tour, even if he qualifies.
As Larrazabal prepares for the Genesis Scottish Open, he expressed his eagerness to compete at The Renaissance Club in North Berwick. This event will see European Tour players, including Larrazabal, face off against their PGA Tour counterparts in preparation for The Open. However, he acknowledged that there are still aspects of his game that need fine-tuning ahead of the tournament.
Fans from both sides of the Atlantic will have the chance to witness Larrazabal and other stars in action at the Scottish Open. For those hoping to see more of Larrazabal on the PGA Tour, this may be one of the few opportunities to catch the Spaniard in action, as he remains resolute in his decision to avoid a full-time schedule in the American series.
