**Carlos Alcaraz’s Unforgettable Sunday: Wimbledon Victory and Spain’s European Championship Triumph**
This past Sunday was exceptionally eventful for Carlos Alcaraz. During the day, he secured his Wimbledon championship title, and later that evening, he watched as Spain claimed victory in the UEFA European Championship.
Alcaraz had a superb day, both personally and for his country. He had hinted at this during the semi-finals when he boldly suggested that Spain would win the 2024 UEFA European Championship final against England, despite receiving boos from the crowd for his prediction.
Not only did Alcaraz defeat Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon final, but Spain also triumphed over England in their final, bringing double joy for the Spanish athlete.
At the Wimbledon Champions Ball, Alcaraz shared how he managed to watch the football final. He said, “Well, I started on the phone, switched to the TV at home, and then came here on the iPad, so it’s a mix.”
The football match saw Spain take the lead midway through the first half. It wasn’t until the second half, when Cole Palmer scored for England, that the score was equalized. As the match progressed, tension mounted, with Spain regaining the lead towards the end, making for a nail-biting final ten minutes.
Alcaraz arrived at the Ball just as Spain scored the winning goal. He stayed in his car until he was certain the goal stood after an offside check.
“That’s right, just before getting out of the car, I saw the goal. I thought it was offside, but I couldn’t get out until I made sure it was given as a goal. Those few minutes, the nerves were so high,” Alcaraz admitted.
For Alcaraz, the day was a blend of personal and national victories, making it an unforgettable Sunday.
