Shane Lowry leads after the first two rounds of the 152nd Open Championship at Troon, following two impressive sub-70 rounds. The leaderboard features notable names such as Justin Rose, Scottie Scheffler, Jason Day, Xander Schauffele, and Patrick Cantlay, all under-par. However, several big names are missing the cut, set at seven-over-par, including Rory McIlroy, Tiger Woods, and US Open champion Bryson DeChambeau.
Here are some standout names who missed the cut:
**Tyrrell Hatton (+8, 73, 77)**
Hatton, despite his strong links record, missed his first Major cut in three years. He was two-over after 28 holes before dropping six strokes in his final eight holes.
**Bryson DeChambeau (+9, 76, 75)**
DeChambeau’s poor start was too much to overcome. Six-over after eight holes on Thursday, he couldn’t recover sufficiently, continuing his struggle with links golf.
**Ludvig Aberg (+9, 75, 76)**
The Swede, despite high expectations, missed the cut in his Open debut. His Major season ends with mixed results: 2-MC-T12-MC.
**Tommy Fleetwood (+9, 76, 75)**
Fleetwood, a previous runner-up at The Open, missed the cut for the first time since 2015. He struggled in tough conditions at Troon.
**Viktor Hovland (+10, 75, 77)**
Hovland, last year’s FedEx Cup winner, missed the cut in three of the four Majors this year. He managed just one birdie over two days at Troon.
**Rory McIlroy (+12, 78, 75)**
McIlroy, after an opening 78, failed to recover in round two, despite a flawless back nine. It’s his first missed cut at The Open since 2019.
**Cameron Smith (+12, 80, 74)**
Smith, who won The Open in 2022, missed the cut after a disastrous opening round 80.
**Tiger Woods (+14, 79, 77)**
Woods missed his third consecutive Major cut. He struggled after a strong start, and we’ll next see him at the Hero World Challenge in December.
**Wyndham Clark (+16, 78, 80)**
Clark, the 2023 US Open champion, had a tough tournament, finishing far below expectations. His Major season includes three missed cuts and a T65.
Other notable names to miss the cut include Keegan Bradley (+7), Will Zalatoris (+8), Louis Oosthuizen (+8), Tony Finau (+10), Tom Kim (+11), and Sahith Theegala (+14).
