Webb Simpson has been appointed as a vice-captain for the United States team at the Ryder Cup next year, the PGA of America has announced. Simpson, 38, who secured his only major title at the US Open in 2012, has participated in the Ryder Cup three times as a player.
Simpson is the first assistant named by the new captain, Keegan Bradley, for the upcoming event, which is set to take place at Bethpage Black in New York in September next year.
Bradley praised Simpson, saying, “Webb is someone who I have long admired and respected as a competitor and friend. He possesses a wealth of team golf experience and knows what it takes to win.”
