**Rahm Wins Dramatic LIV Golf U.K. Title**
In a thrilling finish at the LIV Golf U.K. event at JCB Resort in Uttoxeter, Jon Rahm emerged victorious over Tyrrell Hatton. The pair, tied at 13 under par, faced intense pressure on the final hole, with thousands of fans watching. Hatton missed a crucial par putt inside six feet, giving Rahm his first LIV Golf win and his first victory since the 2023 Masters.
“Tyrrell is a fantastic player, and you never want to see him miss like that,” Rahm said, reflecting on his friend’s misfortune.
Rahm, with 11 PGA Tour wins to his name, started the final day three shots off the lead. He shot a four-under 67 to finish at 13 under (200). Hatton’s bogey on the last hole left him with a 69, tying for second place at 12 under with Cameron Smith (69) and Joaquin Niemann (65). Rahm’s team, Legion XIII, also celebrated its fourth win of the season.
After securing the victory, Rahm, 29, was visibly emotional, partly due to his wife Kelley’s challenging pregnancy with their third child. “It hasn’t been the easiest year for our family,” Rahm admitted. “Kepa, our son, told me to bring a trophy home. Now, I can tell him, ‘I’m bringing one home.’”
Rahm’s path to victory included two birdies on the front nine and three on the back nine, two of which were on par 5s. His impressive shots on the 632-yard par-5 10th and the 627-yard 13th were highlights of his round. A bogey on the 17th hole meant Rahm needed to avoid a playoff with Hatton.
Hatton, cheered on by local fans, grew up two hours away from JCB in High Wycombe, demonstrating the success of LIV’s strategy to hold events in golf-hungry markets.
Rahm now heads to the Olympics golf competition in Paris at Le Golf National, a course where he has fond memories, including a singles victory over Tiger Woods in the 2018 Ryder Cup. He looks forward to competing alongside his compatriot David Puig.
“Today’s win gives me extra confidence for the Olympics,” Rahm said.
