Lethbridge Hurricanes defenseman Noah Chadwick has inked a significant deal, securing a three-year entry-level contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs. The announcement came on Friday, December 22nd, marking a pivotal moment for the 18-year-old player selected 185th overall by the Ontario-based team during the 2023 NHL Draft.
Chadwick’s performance this season has been noteworthy, tallying 24 points, including 7 goals, and accumulating 12 penalty minutes for the Hurricanes. Hailing from Saskatoon, the young player has showcased his skills in 110 games, amassing 47 points, with 14 goals, and registering 32 penalty minutes.
Notably, Chadwick’s signing marks a milestone for the Hurricanes, as he becomes the first player from the team to secure a three-year entry-level contract with an NHL team since Dylan Cozens signed with the Buffalo Sabres. Furthermore, he joins the ranks of Hurricanes making it to the NHL, being the 81st player from the team to be drafted, and the third to be picked up by the Maple Leafs. The Maple Leafs had previously drafted Andrew Nielsen in 2015 and David Brumby in 1993.
This move underscores the Maple Leafs’ commitment to nurturing emerging talent, and Chadwick’s journey from the WHL to the NHL adds another chapter to the success stories of young players realizing their dreams in the world of professional hockey.
