Katherine Morikawa had some affectionate words for her husband, Collin Morikawa, following his participation in the Paris Olympics. Despite not securing a medal, Katherine expressed her support and admiration by calling him the “GOAT” (Greatest of All Time).
Collin Morikawa, who was a strong contender for a medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, had a modest performance in Paris. He finished tied for 24th at 6-under, thirteen strokes behind the gold medalist Scottie Scheffler. After the final round of the 2024 Olympics golf men’s event, Katherine took to social media, saying, “Loved cheering on my goat.”
Katherine Morikawa is an accomplished athlete in her own right. She has played both golf and tennis, earning multiple accolades during her time at Pepperdine University. The couple met during their college days—Collin at the University of California, Berkeley, and Katherine at Pepperdine. They got married in 2022 at the Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles.
While 18 Olympians are set to compete at the Wyndham Championship, Collin Morikawa has decided to skip the tournament. The Wyndham Championship, which concludes the PGA Tour 2024 regular season, will take place from Thursday, August 8, to Sunday, August 11, at the Sedgefield Country Club. This event is crucial for players aiming to break into the top 70 of the FedEx Cup standings to qualify for the playoffs.
Currently ranked 4th in the FedEx Cup standings, Morikawa’s decision to skip the Wyndham Championship will not affect his standing. He has had a consistent season, missing only two cuts in eighteen appearances and achieving seven top-ten finishes, including a runner-up spot at the Memorial Tournament.
The Wyndham Championship will feature a 156-player field competing for a purse of $7.9 million, with notable participants including Sungjae Im and Shane Lowry.
