Bryson DeChambeau has praised LIV Golf, describing it as a revolutionary force in the sport, amid rumors that Jon Rahm might regret his decision to join the controversial league. The American golfer, a significant figure in the Saudi-backed circuit, has highlighted its transformative impact since its launch two years ago, noting its fresh approach and unique contributions to the game.
Despite a Golf Digest report suggesting Rahm might be willing to return to the PGA Tour if possible, both Rahm and LIV Golf Commissioner Greg Norman have denied such claims. DeChambeau, who serves as captain and part-owner of the Crushers team, is adamant that LIV Golf is the premier platform for the sport now and in the future.
At a press event for the upcoming Team Championship, DeChambeau emphasized LIV Golf’s innovative influence: “We have redefined the game of golf,” he said. “Golf was somewhat stagnant, and there were missed opportunities. LIV introduced team golf, player ownership of teams, and global business opportunities, which were lacking before.”
He also highlighted the potential for global growth: “LIV offers a chance to expand the game worldwide. We can build academies, driving ranges, and educational centers, reaching places like Singapore, Hong Kong, and potentially India. Anirban Lahiri, a key team member, is passionate about making an impact there.”
DeChambeau noted that LIV’s team format is a key differentiator, with teams representing countries or regions. He said, “In LIV, you’re competing not just for yourself but for a team and sometimes a country or region. That adds a meaningful layer to the competition, making it unique and beautiful.”
