PGA Tour golfer Wesley Bryan recently found himself in a heated exchange with a former champion leading up to the Creator Classic.
For those unfamiliar with the Creator Classic, it’s a unique event where 16 influencers will compete in a head-to-head tournament. The competitors will play the back nine at East Lake on Wednesday, in an event designed to help the PGA Tour connect with new audiences.
Bryan, known as the younger half of the Bryan Bros YouTube channel, is a favorite to win, given his regular participation in the PGA Tour. His sole PGA Tour victory was at the 2017 RBC Heritage. Despite injuries that have hampered his career, Bryan proved he still has potential when he finished second to Billy Horschel in the Dominican Republic this past April.
However, former PGA Tour winner Chris Couch didn’t hold back in his assessment, stating that Bryan should feel “embarrassed” if he doesn’t win the Creator Classic. Couch, who won the 2006 Zurich Classic of New Orleans, made his comments on X (formerly Twitter). Bryan responded with a sharp retort, saying, “You should be embarrassed for thinking you are still cool on Twitter.”
The exchange continued, with Couch firing back, “What the f— are you even talking about? You’re a professional golfer playing against a bunch of YouTubers. If you don’t win, you should be embarrassed.”
As the competition draws near, all eyes will be on Bryan to see if he can live up to expectations in this inaugural event.
