Sweden’s Ludvig Aberg is set to undergo arthroscopic surgery this week to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee, according to a report from Golf Channel on Monday. Aberg, currently ranked No. 5 in the Official World Golf Ranking, secured a 16th-place finish at the Tour Championship on Sunday in Atlanta.
Earlier this year, Aberg withdrew from the Wells Fargo Championship in May due to knee pain and competed in the PGA Championship the following week with a brace on his knee.
The 24-year-old golfer is expected to resume hitting golf balls approximately three to four weeks after the surgery and may have a limited playing schedule this fall, as per the report.
Aberg is the defending champion of the RSM Classic, which is scheduled to take place from November 21-24 in St. Simons Island, Georgia.
In 2024, Aberg has recorded eight top-10 finishes in 19 PGA Tour starts, including a runner-up finish at the Masters, his debut appearance in a major tournament. Despite missing the cut at both the PGA Championship and The Open Championship, Aberg finished tied for 12th at the U.S. Open and secured a tie for second at the BMW Championship last month.
