Play in Daniil Medvedev’s U.S. Open match on Arthur Ashe Stadium, along with all other ongoing matches, was temporarily halted on Monday due to a malfunction in the tournament’s electronic line-calling system.
Medvedev, the 2021 champion, had won the first two sets against Nuno Borges and was leading 2-1 in the third set of their fourth-round match when the chair umpire informed them of the stoppage.
The same issue occurred during Beatriz Haddad Maia’s match against 2018 Australian Open champion Caroline Wozniacki, just as Haddad Maia was serving for the first set.
At the time of the disruption, 15 matches were in progress. Play eventually resumed on all courts.
