The 7th edition of the Laver Cup is set to take place from September 22 to 24, 2024, in Berlin, Germany, bringing together some of the biggest stars of the ATP Tour. This year’s tournament will see tennis icons like Rafael Nadal, Carlos Alcaraz, Frances Tiafoe, and Taylor Fritz, sparking excitement among fans worldwide.
Team World, captained by John McEnroe, will be aiming for their third consecutive Laver Cup victory, while Team Europe, led by Bjorn Borg, is determined to reclaim the title after winning the first four editions in a row. Notably, this will be the final Laver Cup with Borg and McEnroe as captains, as Yannick Noah and Andre Agassi are set to take over in 2025.
Rafael Nadal, the 22-time Grand Slam champion, will be the most experienced player on Team Europe, making his fourth Laver Cup appearance. His last participation was in 2022 when he famously teamed up with Roger Federer for the Swiss legend’s farewell match.
Joining Nadal on Team Europe is fellow Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, a 4-time Grand Slam champion. Fans might witness a new partnership between these two, reminiscent of their collaboration at the last Olympic Games, where they reached the quarterfinals.
World No. 2 Alexander Zverev will also be a key player for Team Europe, making his fifth appearance in the Laver Cup, the most by any player. Another regular, Stefanos Tsitsipas, will be making his fourth appearance, matching the record of Roger Federer, Nick Kyrgios, John Isner, and Jack Sock.
Completing the star-studded lineup are former US Open champion Daniil Medvedev (No. 5) and 3-time Grand Slam runner-up Casper Ruud (No. 9). With five players in the top 12, alongside the legendary Rafael Nadal, Team Europe once again looks like the favorites to win the trophy, despite falling short in the last two editions.
