NFL star Travis Kelce attended the 2024 US Open men’s singles final between Jannik Sinner and Taylor Fritz, but he struggled with the match’s surprisingly quiet atmosphere. Kelce, known for his energetic personality, admitted he found it hard to stay silent during the game.
On the ‘New Heights’ podcast with his brother Jason, Kelce shared his experience: “The tennis match was very quiet, and you know us—we’re not quiet people. When it’s that quiet, we want to say something. I’ve never been a quiet person.”
Kelce even contemplated heckling World No. 1 Sinner to support Fritz, saying, “The entire time I wanted to heckle the Italian, Jannik Sinner, to try to get in his head and help my guy Fritzy out.”
Despite his urge, Kelce chose to remain respectful, noting, “I played it cool and respectful, knowing heckling is frowned upon. If I had started making a scene like the guy in *Happy Gilmore*, I probably would have been asked to leave.”
Unfortunately for the American fans, Taylor Fritz lost the match in straight sets, with Jannik Sinner securing consecutive titles at the Cincinnati Open and the US Open.
