The New York Jets provided an injury update on Tuesday, covering some known issues. Jermaine Johnson is confirmed to be out for the season with an Achilles injury, while C.J. Mosley missed practice due to a toe injury sustained against the Titans. A few other players were limited, and Tyron Smith took his veteran day off as part of efforts to keep him healthy. Head coach Robert Saleh addressed the media, offering updates on several key players.
On C.J. Mosley, D.J. Reed & Michael Carter II:
“Michael Carter’s situation is going to be a bit on and off, but he’ll be fine. D.J. Reed and C.J. Mosley are both progressing well.”
On how the team evaluates players on a short week with no full practice:
“It’s more about feel. Today, we’re doing full-speed individual drills, which will give us a clearer picture of where they’re at. It helps get their bodies moving and clears out some of the lactic acid from the last game. A short week definitely makes it more challenging.”
If Mosley can’t play, who takes over as MIKE?
“Jamien Sherwood will step in as our MIKE linebacker. We have full confidence in him. He’s developed incredibly well as a professional, and we trust him to call the defense and make the necessary checks. His mental speed and communication skills are elite.”
On the possibility of increased snaps for Will McDonald:
“I’d expect so, but the goal remains the same. Will is one of our top pass rushers, so the rotation will keep him ready for key situations like third downs and two-minute drills.”
