A total of 14 LIV Golf stars are set to make their return to the DP World Tour in October, with their names included on the entry list for next month’s Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. This prestigious Pro-Am event, held across St Andrews, Carnoustie, and Kingsbarns Golf Links, has become a staple on the DP World Tour schedule and will feature a strong field of top golfers.
Regulars from the DP World Tour, including Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry, Tommy Fleetwood, and Matt Fitzpatrick, will be joined by several LIV Golf competitors, who are either using their DP World Tour exemption status or receiving tournament invites to participate.
One of the main draws is former world No. 1 Jon Rahm. His participation in the event is crucial as he must play three more tournaments on the DP World Tour this year to maintain his membership and eligibility for the Ryder Cup. Rahm’s future with the DP World Tour had been uncertain due to fines and suspensions for competing in LIV events, but an appeal is allowing him to compete in the Spanish Open, Andalucia Masters, and the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
Another LIV star, Tyrrell Hatton, is also set to compete. Like Rahm, Hatton needs to meet the four-event quota to maintain his DP World Tour membership, and he will make his third and fourth appearances this season in Spain and Scotland.
Brooks Koepka, a five-time major champion, is another big name returning to the DP World Tour for the Dunhill Links Championship. Koepka expressed his excitement about playing at St Andrews, calling it his favorite course in the world and stating he could play there every day without tiring of it.
Koepka’s Smash GC teammate, Talor Gooch, the 2023 LIV individual champion, will also be competing in Scotland. Last year, Gooch withdrew from the event, but this year, he is set to join the strong field.
Other notable LIV Golf competitors participating include 2016 Masters champion Patrick Reed and 2010 Open champion at St Andrews, Louis Oosthuizen.
