Sinner and Kalinskaya made their relationship public during the 2024 French Open. The couple supported each other during the tournament, where Sinner reached the semifinals and Kalinskaya was eliminated in the second round.

Both athletes kicked off their grasscourt season in Germany, with Sinner competing in the ATP 500 in Halle and Kalinskaya in the WTA 500 in Berlin. While in Berlin, Kalinskaya appeared in Daria Kasatkina’s YouTube vlog, “What the Vlog,” where Kasatkina playfully referenced Sinner’s association with carrots – stemming from an incident in 2019 when he was seen eating a carrot during a changeover at the Erste Bank Open in Vienna, which gave rise to his fan group, the “Carota Boys.”
Kasatkina asked Kalinskaya in Russian, “Wait… carrot cake, yes or no?” which made the 25-year-old laugh before replying, “F**k you.” Kasatkina, not giving up, repeated the question in front of Kalinskaya’s coach, Patricia Tarabini. Tarabini chimed in, confirming her fondness for carrot cake and humorously declaring that Kalinskaya enjoyed it too: “I love carrot cake; she loves carrot cakes; we all love carrot cakes,” she said, dancing.
The couple’s impressive performances continued that week. On June 22, both Sinner and Kalinskaya reached their first grasscourt finals – Sinner at Halle and Kalinskaya in Berlin. After her semifinal win over Victoria Azarenka, Kalinskaya mentioned Sinner’s influence, expressing her hope to match his level of success.
“I’m just trying to be a little bit as good as him… Let’s see if we can watch each other tomorrow in the finals. Congratulations to him, I’m going to text him now. I’m so happy,” she said.
However, while Sinner claimed victory against Hubert Hurkacz in Halle, Kalinskaya fell short in her final against Jessica Pegula, unable to convert five match points. During his victory speech, Sinner expressed sympathy for his girlfriend, saying, “My girlfriend Anna played in Berlin today. She lost with five match points, so I am very sorry for her. But she also had an amazing week.”
Both players now look ahead to Wimbledon, hoping to build on their successful week in Germany.
