The Cleveland Browns have made strategic roster moves, promoting QB Joe Flacco and CB A.J. Green III from the practice squad to the active roster. Flacco, a seasoned veteran in his 16th NFL season, is poised to start for the Browns in the absence of rookie quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson, who is in concussion protocol after last week’s game against Denver. With an extensive career that includes stints with the Ravens, Broncos, and Jets, Flacco brings a wealth of experience with 183 games and 180 starts. Notably, he led the Ravens to a Super Bowl victory in XLVII, earning the Super Bowl MVP title. Flacco, donning jersey No. 15, joined the Browns’ practice squad on Nov. 20.
In another roster adjustment, A.J. Green III has been elevated to address the absence of cornerback Denzel Ward, who is sidelined with a shoulder injury for Sunday’s game. Green, now in his third NFL season from Oklahoma State, initially signed with the Browns as an undrafted free agent in 2020. With 33 games and two starts under his belt, Green has amassed 26 career tackles and two interceptions. Having appeared in two games this season, he will wear No. 38 for the upcoming challenges. These strategic moves reflect the Browns’ adaptability and resourcefulness as they navigate the dynamic landscape of the NFL season.
