Tiger Woods Shares a Humorous Anecdote with Jimmy Fallon about His Son Charlie
On April 30, 2024, Tiger Woods made a memorable appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The legendary golfer and 15-time major champion joined Fallon to promote his new golf apparel brand, Sun Day Red, launched in partnership with his major sponsor TaylorMade in February. However, the conversation soon turned to a heartwarming and funny story involving Woods’ son, Charlie, now a promising young golfer in his own right.
During the interview, Fallon shared an amusing anecdote from a charity event where he and Woods crossed paths. At the time, Fallon wanted to show Woods a video of his newborn daughter but struggled to locate it on his phone. Woods, seizing the moment, pulled up a video of Charlie—who was just 2 or 3 years old at the time—demonstrating some impressive golf skills, despite still being in diapers.
Fallon recounted the scene, describing young Charlie’s unusual “golf club”: “You showed me a video of Charlie, and he’s wearing diapers, and he has one of those… Chuckits? You know, the thing you throw balls for dogs with a tennis ball?” Fallon said. “So, the baby walks up, Charlie, he’s holding the Chuckit thing. He goes up to this tennis ball with the Chuckit and goes and hits this amazing shot.”
Fallon joked that after seeing Charlie’s budding golf talent, his own video didn’t quite measure up: “He’s a baby. He’s a baby in diapers. And I go, ‘Well, I found my video. This is my daughter sucking on a lemon for the first time. I thought that would be funny.’ Just two dads being dads.”
Tiger and Charlie Woods in the PNC Championship
In addition to the playful family moment, Woods and his son Charlie have also become a popular duo in professional golf circles. The two have participated in the PNC Championship four times, where major champions team up with family members for an exciting showcase of skill and familial bonding. The tournament allows professionals—both active and retired—to team up with an amateur family member, regardless of gender.
Tiger and Charlie first appeared at the PNC Championship in 2020, when Charlie was only 13 years old. They delivered a strong performance, finishing in a tie for seventh place at 20-under, just five strokes behind the winners, Justin Thomas and his father.
The following year, the Woods duo returned, finishing in second place at 25-under, narrowly missing the title by two strokes to John Daly and his son. In 2022, they placed eighth, shooting 20-under and finishing six strokes behind winners Vijay Singh and his son. In 2023, they continued to impress, tying for fifth place with a score of 19-under, six strokes behind Bernhard Langer and his son.
As of now, Tiger has not yet confirmed his participation in the 2024 PNC Championship. However, other stars have already committed, including Annika Sorenstam, Nelly Korda, Lee Trevino, Tom Lehman, and John Daly
