Charlie Woods, the son of golf legend Tiger Woods, is set to make a bid for a spot in his hometown PGA TOUR event. On Thursday, he’ll compete in the pre-qualifier for the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches at Lost Lake Golf Club in Hobe Sound, Florida. This pre-qualifying round is one of four, with approximately 25 players and ties advancing to the event’s Monday qualifier. From there, four players will secure coveted spots in the Cognizant Classic.
Woods, aged 15, will tee off at 7:39 a.m. ET on Thursday alongside Olin Browne Jr. and Ruaidhri McGee. Browne Jr. happens to be the son of three-time TOUR winner Olin Browne.
The main event, the Cognizant Classic, is scheduled to take place from February 29 to March 3 at PGA National’s Champion Course in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
Charlie Woods is no stranger to the golf world’s attention. He’s participated in the past four editions of the PNC Championship alongside his father, Tiger Woods. Together, they’ve captivated audiences with their shared mannerisms, although they haven’t clinched victory yet, finishing as runners-up in 2021.
Last fall, Charlie also took part in the Notah Begay III Junior Golf National Championship, where his father served as his caddy for all 54 holes. In the Boys 14-15 division, Charlie Woods finished T17, showcasing his skills with a final-round 68. He secured his spot in the event by posting impressive rounds of 71 and 66 at a September qualifier in Florida.
With these experiences under his belt, Charlie Woods is poised to raise the stakes as he aims for his first PGA TOUR start in South Florida.
