Golfing legend Tiger Woods is set to make a highly-anticipated appearance at Monday’s Seminole pro-member one-day tournament in Juno Beach, Florida, according to tee times shared on social media.
The 15-time major champion, still on the path to recovery following his 2021 car accident, will join forces with PGA of America CEO Seth Waugh for the two-person best-ball tournament at Seminole Golf Club.
Woods will be paired alongside Justin Thomas, a two-time PGA Championship victor, and Mike Walrath, the CEO of software company Yext.
Notably, world number two Rory McIlroy is also among the PGA Tour pros participating, teaming up with his father Gerry. They will be joined by Ireland’s Padraig Harrington and Ed Herlihy, chairman of the PGA Tour policy board.
The event boasts an impressive lineup of major winners, including Collin Morikawa, Matt Fitzpatrick, and Nelly Korda. Additionally, PGA golfer Tony Finau will be hitting the links with retired NFL star Tom Brady.
For Woods, the tournament represents another opportunity to gauge his form after a bout of flu forced him out of the Genesis Invitational at Riviera Country Club the previous month.
This outing comes on the heels of Woods’s return to competitive golf, following his withdrawal from the rain-delayed third round of the Masters in April of the previous year. Subsequently, Woods underwent surgery on his right ankle to address lingering pain stemming from injuries sustained in the car crash.
Prior to the Seminole event, Woods had participated in what he described as “soft” tune-up events, including the unofficial Hero World Challenge and the PNC Championship alongside his son Charlie in December.
Expressing his aspirations for the year, Woods mentioned his intention to compete in one tour event per month, although he acknowledged uncertainties regarding the feasibility of this schedule and its potential impact on his quest for consistency and contention.
