Former PGA Champion Paul Azinger: PGA Tour has become ‘qualifier’ for LIV Golf in humiliating assessment

In the ongoing saga between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf, former Ryder Cup captain Paul Azinger is sounding the alarm, suggesting that the breakaway league is swiftly outpacing the traditional circuit in terms of talent and prestige.

“The best players aren’t all playing PGA Tour tournaments,” Azinger told Golfweek, expressing his dismay at the shifting landscape of professional golf. “Suddenly, the PGA Tour has fast become the qualifier for LIV, and it’s a sad day for golf.”

Azinger’s remarks come amidst his departure from NBC’s PGA Tour coverage last November, fueling speculation about his potential involvement with LIV Golf in the future. While he hasn’t ruled out the possibility, Azinger acknowledges the uncertainty surrounding his future in golf commentary.

DeChambeau, speaking at LIV Mayakoba, expresses optimism about the eventual resolution of the rift between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf, emphasizing the positive impact of additional investment in the game.
