Following a disappointing stint at the Australian Open, Djokovic ventured to the United States with plans to participate in the Sunshine Double. However, his journey hit a roadblock when he suffered a surprising defeat to world number 123, Luca Nardi, at Indian Wells, prompting him to skip the Miami Open. Despite this setback, Djokovic made the most of his time in the U.S., enjoying leisurely days on the beach and even catching an NBA game.

Now back in his native Serbia, Djokovic has resumed training in preparation for his eagerly anticipated comeback during the clay-court season. It’s a strategic move considering this part of the tennis calendar is predominantly based in Europe, and Djokovic typically chooses to train in his hometown ahead of this segment.
According to both the entry list and his official website, Djokovic’s return to competitive play is expected to take place at the 2024 Monte-Carlo Masters, the premier clay-court ATP Masters 1000 event. This tournament holds special significance for Djokovic, having clinched the title twice before, in 2013 and 2015.
Notably, during recent practice sessions, Djokovic has been spotted sporting a protective sleeve on his elbow, though it was absent in a recent video. Despite the lingering concerns about his fitness, especially following his Miami Open withdrawal, Djokovic’s movements on the court appear fluid, and his shots remain as sharp as ever.
As Serbia experiences cooler temperatures during these months, Djokovic, now 36 years old, has been seen donning a long-sleeve black t-shirt underneath his practice gear. However, there seems to be no visible signs of discomfort, suggesting that Djokovic is primed and ready for his return to competitive action on the clay courts.
