Tiger Woods made headlines at The Masters’ practice round on Tuesday, leaving one lucky fan with a memorable souvenir. As Woods concluded his session alongside Justin Thomas and Fred Couples, a bold spectator seized the moment, calling out to Woods from the stands. Initially appearing to ignore the call, Woods couldn’t resist the opportunity. With a smirk to his caddie, he accurately tossed the ball into the crowd, much to the amusement of his playing partners.

Reflecting on the remarkable exchange, the fortunate fan, Matt, shared his excitement. “It just happened to be quiet, and I was looking at him, and hey, why not,” Matt recounted. “So I yelled at him, and he kind of smirked, and then he turned, and he smirked at me, and that’s when I knew, and I was like, oh gosh, he’s gonna do it.” Recalling the moment Woods lobbed the ball towards him, Matt added, “And then he missiled it right to me. Honestly, I’m shocked with myself that I caught it; he throws a fast one. My hand was throbbing for a little bit, so good arm Tiger.”
Eager to preserve the cherished memento, Matt plans to encase the ball in a special frame. If fortune continues to smile upon him, he aims to secure Woods’ signature before the week concludes.
This year marks Woods’ 26th appearance at The Masters, with the five-time champion eyeing a historic feat: becoming the first to make the cut at Augusta National 24 times consecutively. Despite limited playing time due to injuries, Woods remains undeterred. Last year, he narrowly made the cut before retiring due to an ankle injury. His 2024 season has been marred by health setbacks, withdrawing from the Genesis Invitational due to illness.
While Woods faces formidable competition, including contenders like Scottie Scheffler and Jon Rahm, he remains optimistic. When asked about his prospects, Woods responded confidently, “If everything comes together, I think I can get one more. Do I need to describe that any more than that, or are we good?” Despite physical limitations, Woods relies on his wealth of experience at Augusta National to bolster his chances of contention.
