Clark’s disappointment was compounded by the fact that he wasn’t the only notable golfer to miss the cut. However, what set him apart was his less-than-subtle jab at LIV Golf, a rival tour. His comments from Thursday resurfaced, particularly as several LIV Golfers were in contention at the Masters.
In his post-round remarks on Thursday, Clark remarked, “Yeah, we’ve got 54 holes. In LIV Golf they only play 54, so I like my chances.” He expressed confidence in having more golf to play, especially after witnessing Bryson DeChambeau’s impressive 7-under par 65 in the first round.
However, Friday didn’t go as planned for Clark. He struggled with seven bogeys over the final 13 holes, falling short of making the weekend by just one shot. Meanwhile, the LIV golfer he referenced, Bryson DeChambeau, remained in contention with an exceptional performance, trailing Scottie Scheffler by just two shots midway through the third round.
