Golfing legend Tiger Woods has been urged to consider stepping away from the sport after a disappointing performance at the Masters, where he finished at 16-over-par. Despite making the cut and even setting a record for the most cuts made at Augusta, Woods struggled in the later rounds, culminating in his worst-ever round at the prestigious event.
Woods, a 15-time major champion, has been plagued by injuries since a serious car crash in 2021, which has forced him to adopt a part-time playing schedule. His former rival, Colin Montgomerie, believes that Woods should have bid farewell to the sport after his emotional exit at the 2022 Open Championship at St Andrews. Montgomerie argues that Woods’ physical and mental limitations have become apparent, making it difficult for him to compete at the highest level.
Despite receiving warm receptions from fans and showing glimpses of his former self, Montgomerie suggests that Woods’ recent struggles indicate it may be time for him to retire. While Woods has expressed his intention to continue playing, Montgomerie and others believe that prolonging his career may not be in his best interest.
