A former employee of the prestigious Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia is poised to plead guilty in federal court for his involvement in a scheme to steal and transport millions of dollars’ worth of merchandise and memorabilia from the renowned Masters tournament.
Richard Globensky stands accused of knowingly transporting stolen goods across state lines to Tampa, Florida, between 2009 and 2022, as detailed in a document filed on Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
Globensky, identified as a former warehouse coordinator at Augusta National responsible for overseeing the extensive range of Masters merchandise and memorabilia sold annually, has transitioned to a career as a mortgage broker. In an online biography for his finance company, he adopts the alias “Brendan” for his first name, boasting of his 14-year tenure at Augusta National, where he claims to have honed skills in hard work, customer service, and relationship-building.
Described as fostering an authentic atmosphere akin to a small town, Brendan strives for excellence in customer interactions, aiming to surpass expectations at every turn. Outside of work, he shares interests in family travel, golfing, and spectating the game.
Public records reveal that Globensky and his spouse sold their opulent Evans, Georgia residence for just over $2 million last year, following the cessation of the alleged illicit activity. The sprawling six-bedroom, 7,300-square-foot home boasted amenities including an in-ground pool and outdoor putting green.
The recent 88th edition of the Masters golf tournament, held at Augusta National, concluded with Scottie Scheffler securing victory for the second time in three years.
