The final qualifying events for this year’s US Open at Pinehurst No. 2 are set to take place on Monday across ten venues in North America. Known as the “longest day in golf,” this day sees both professionals and amateurs vying for the remaining spots in the third men’s Major of the year through 36-hole events.
A significant number of LIV Golf players will participate in these qualifiers due to their lower positions in the Official World Golf Ranking, which disqualified them from automatic entry. Notably, ten players from the LIV circuit have already secured their spots in the US Open. These include former champions Jon Rahm, Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, and Martin Kaymer, who all hold exemptions. They are joined by Phil Mickelson, Cameron Smith, Tyrrell Hatton, and Adrian Meronk, who qualified by other means, as well as Spain’s Eugenio Chacarra, who advanced through final qualifying in Dallas earlier in the month.
However, many LIV players, including 2017 Masters champion Sergio Garcia, did not secure their spots at the Dallas event. Similarly, others like Sam Horsfield, Kalle Samooja, and Scott Vincent missed out in the final qualifiers in England and Japan.
On Monday, 18 LIV players will attempt to secure their place in the US Open during the final qualifiers. The Florida qualifier will feature Joaquin Niemann and Dean Burmester, who are first and third in LIV’s season-long individual standings, respectively. They will be joined by seven others, including 2010 US Open champion Graeme McDowell.
Several notable LIV players have chosen not to participate in the final qualifying. Talor Gooch announced earlier this month that he would not compete, and others like Bubba Watson and Louis Oosthuizen have also opted out. Additionally, Patrick Reed, Lee Westwood, and Jason Kokrak initially signed up but later withdrew.
