Tyrrell Hatton secured his seventh DP World Tour title at the 2024 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship on Sunday, October 6, with a score of 24-under. The English golfer clinched the $800,000 winner’s share of the $5,000,000 purse after a thrilling final round at the Old Course at St. Andrews.
Hatton’s victory came after a dramatic final stretch where he recorded five birdies, one bogey, and a double bogey in the fourth round, finishing with a 2-under total. His 72-hole score of 24-under matched the event record and edged out Belgium’s Nicolas Colsaerts by one stroke. Despite a challenging double bogey on the 13th hole and a bogey on the 14th, Hatton was unaware of how close he was to the lead until he saw the leaderboard on the 17th green. He pushed through to secure the title, stating after the match, “I didn’t realize I was still in and around the lead and just tried my best on every shot coming in.”
Nicolas Colsaerts finished in second place, just one shot behind Hatton, taking home $533,330 for his 23-under performance. Tommy Fleetwood rounded out the top three, earning $300,480 with a score of 20-under.
David Puig, who finished tied for fourth, delivered one of the most electrifying performances of the tournament. He blazed through the front nine with a 7-under 29, which included six consecutive birdies. However, his pace slowed on the back nine, where he finished with one birdie, two bogeys, and a double bogey, resulting in a 19-under score for the tournament.
