McCarty’s victory at the Black Desert Championship capped off an extraordinary few months for the 26-year-old. After winning three times on the Korn Ferry Tour, he earned a spot on the PGA Tour, becoming the 13th player to achieve this feat. He also became the second player, after Jason Gore in 2005, to win on the PGA Tour in the same year as his three-time Korn Ferry Tour promotion.
Reflecting on his success, McCarty said, “I knew if I played well this week after last week then I could maybe have a chance, but to do it like this, I don’t know how you could expect this, to be honest.”
In addition to his $1.35 million prize, McCarty earned a two-year PGA Tour exemption and 500 FedEx Cup points, moving him to 95th place in the standings after just two events this season. He also qualified for The Sentry 2025, the first Signature Event of the upcoming season, and received invitations to The Masters and the PGA Championship.
