Ludvig Åberg may have retained his lead at the Genesis Scottish Open, but several PGA Tour players made significant strides on Moving Day.
On Saturday, many players took advantage of The Renaissance Club’s favorable conditions, shooting up the leaderboard. Here are five players who posted strong numbers in round 3 of the Genesis Scottish Open:
3. Collin Morikawa
Once again, Collin Morikawa finds himself in contention at a PGA Tour event. On Saturday, he carded a 4-under 66, bringing his total to 13-under, four shots behind leader Ludvig Åberg, who sits at 17-under. Morikawa’s round included six birdies and two bogeys, positioning him well for a Sunday push. This season, the two-time major winner has one runner-up finish, six top 10s, and 12 top 25s.
2. Adam Scott
Adam Scott has returned to contention at the Genesis Scottish Open. The PGA Tour veteran jumped 12 spots on the leaderboard with an impressive 6-under 64 on Saturday. Scott made four birdies on the front nine, turning in 31 shots, followed by three more birdies and a bogey on the back nine for a 33. This is Scott’s best position since the 2020 Genesis Invitational when he shared the lead going into the final day. Despite not having won in over four years, Scott is looking to end that streak.
1. Robert MacIntyre
Robert MacIntyre is aiming to become the second Scottish golfer to win the Scottish Open, following Colin Montgomerie’s victory in 1999. After finishing runner-up to Rory McIlroy in 2023, MacIntyre is determined to secure his second victory of 2024. The RBC Canadian Open winner shot an impressive 7-under 63 on Saturday, moving up 13 spots and posting the low round of the day. His round included seven birdies, an eagle, and two bogeys. With strong momentum and the support of the local fans, MacIntyre is poised for a strong finish.
Can he close the deal and secure the win? The final round promises to be exciting as these players vie for the title.
