Adam Scott’s quest for his first PGA Tour win since 2020 continues after he narrowly missed ending his drought on Sunday. Scott finished as the runner-up in the 2024 Genesis Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club in North Berwick, Scotland.
Local favorite Robert MacIntyre emerged victorious in this final warm-up before the Open Championship. The Scottish pro pulled off a stunning come-from-behind win. An eagle on the 16th hole put MacIntyre in a tie with Scott. After a par on the 17th, MacIntyre made a birdie on the 18th to secure the title and the $1.575 million prize.

Scott, who finished just one stroke behind with a final score of 17-under 263, still earned admiration from many fans. The 43-year-old Australian, despite the disappointment, graciously engaged with fans, signing autographs and posing for selfies.
“Adam is a class act and a great ambassador for the game of golf,” one fan mused on X (formerly Twitter).
“Classiest act in golf. And it’s not even close,” echoed another fan.
A third fan agreed, stating Scott is “the nicest guy on tour. Class act.”
Despite the runner-up finish, another supporter called Scott “a true champ.”
“Adam Scott is definitely one of the good guys,” said one more fan. “What I love most about him is the fact that he hasn’t changed over the years. Long may it continue too.”
Another fan simply called Scott “a legend.”
Scott’s last PGA Tour win was the 2020 Genesis Invitational. This season, he has made 13 cuts out of 15 starts, including two top-10 finishes.
He will next compete at the upcoming 2024 Open Championship at Royal Troon, which begins this Thursday.
