On May 18th, Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk are set to clash in a highly anticipated bout for the undisputed world heavyweight championship, airing live on DAZN PPV. The stakes are high, with the victor likely to face off against Anthony Joshua in the near future.
Former opponent of both Fury and Usyk, Derek Chisora, believes Joshua holds the advantage against either fighter. Speaking to Crypto Casino LTD, Chisora emphasized Joshua’s transformation under the guidance of trainer Ben Davison, who took over last year.
“I’m backing AJ over Fury any day,” Chisora asserted. “His power would prove overwhelming for Fury, and with Davison’s insight into Fury’s style, I believe AJ would emerge victorious.”
Chisora’s confidence extends to a potential rematch with Usyk, despite Joshua’s previous losses to the Ukrainian in 2021 and 2022. He praised Usyk’s skills but remained steadfast in his belief in Joshua’s abilities.
“Under Ben Davison, AJ would struggle to dominate Usyk,” Chisora claimed. “Although his recent performances demonstrate a level of ferocity and versatility that would pose a significant challenge to Usyk’s strategy.”
Acknowledging Usyk’s achievements, including his Olympic gold medal and undisputed cruiserweight title, Chisora recognized him as the current top heavyweight. However, he sees Joshua, under Davison’s tutelage, as poised to reclaim the throne.
“With one more fight, Usyk can solidify his status as the pound-for-pound best fighter and make history for Ukraine,” Chisora concluded.
