Anthony Kim has once again taken aim at Golf Channel analyst Brandel Chamblee, criticizing the former PGA Tour star’s lack of experience in the Ryder Cup. The LIV Golf player reignited their ongoing feud, which has played out on social media in recent months.
Kim made a surprising return to professional golf in February after a 12-year hiatus, joining LIV Golf as a 2024 wildcard. The 38-year-old had been away from the sport and the public eye for over a decade due to a series of injuries in 2012 while playing on the PGA Tour. His comeback has placed him at the heart of the conflict between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf, which has divided the golfing world over the past two years.
Chamblee, a staunch critic of LIV Golf, has been a prominent opponent of the tour’s Saudi Arabian ties, leading to a verbal sparring match with Kim. This week, Kim reignited the feud by questioning Chamblee’s credibility regarding the Ryder Cup.
“Guys like that are what’s wrong with golf. Brandel talks about stuff he knows nothing about,” Kim stated on the Country Club Adjacent podcast. “I saw an interview where Mark Lye and David Duval were on the Golf Channel with Brandel. Brandel went on and on about what it’s like in the Ryder Cup room. How the hell would you know? Here’s David Duval, who was No. 1 in the world, played in multiple Ryder Cups, and has won numerous times. And Brandel is over-talking him about what they’re feeling. If they were discussing what it’s like to drive to a Korn Ferry Tour event and miss the cut, we’d call you, Brandel!”
The tension between Kim and Chamblee initially flared up last month when Kim criticized Chamblee for his comments endorsing the PGA Tour’s alignment with the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia (PIF), despite previously criticizing the PIF. “Ramble Chamblee,” Kim tweeted, followed by, “@chambleebrandel you’re such a hypocrite for beating on your chest and then hypocritically retreating. It’s well known that this talentless fool is disliked by most people in the golf world. Are you still going to cover golf if @livgolf_league is involved?”
Chamblee did not take long to respond harshly. “This is about as inaccurate as a lot of Mickelson’s drives and ironically comes two tweets after you asked for advice on raising your daughter, using a derogatory term to insult someone,” he tweeted. “As for my comments about a deal with the Saudis being the best deal for golf, it’s a sad reality that the Saudis will not turn away from the game and will continue to poach players, diluting the PGA Tour. It’s unfortunate that players like you are willing to deal with a dictator to hide his atrocities, which is forcing golf to figure out how to handle the influence of MBS, PIF, and LIV.”
Chamblee later revealed to Golf Channel that he initially thought Kim’s tweet was from a bot, only to realize it was from Kim’s personal account. Kim quickly fired back, targeting Chamblee’s wife, Bailey Mosier, in his retort. “Again, an inaccurate statement from someone who would know about hanging around ball pits after leaving his family and four kids for someone half his age @GolfChannel,” Kim responded. “I’m not for sale. I chose to play @livgolf_league because it was best for me and my family.”
The heated exchange between Kim and Chamblee underscores the deep divisions within the golf world and highlights the continuing controversy surrounding LIV Golf.
