Bob MacIntyre, fresh off his RBC Canadian Open victory with his father Dougie as his caddie, has now secured Mike Burrow as his new full-time caddie. MacIntyre and Burrow will team up for this week’s US Open at Pinehurst, having already worked together at several events since October, including the PGA Championship at Valhalla last month.
Mike Burrow, an Englishman, temporarily took up MacIntyre’s bag when fellow countryman Danny Willett was recovering from shoulder surgery. Burrow then rejoined Willett as he returned to play at the Masters in April. When Willett was unable to compete in the season’s second major, Burrow returned to MacIntyre’s side, helping him achieve a tie for eighth place in Kentucky.
Dougie MacIntyre, the head greenkeeper at Glencruitten, stepped in as Bob’s caddie on short notice for the Canadian Open, where they shared a memorable victory, making MacIntyre only the fifth Scot to win on the PGA Tour. However, this arrangement was always intended to be temporary.
It’s understood that Burrow, a highly respected caddie with extensive experience on both the DP World Tour and PGA Tour, had been eager to join forces with MacIntyre permanently even before his triumph at Hamilton Golf & Country Club in Ontario. Both MacIntyre and Burrow have reportedly conducted themselves with great respect towards Willett during their discussions over the past week, with MacIntyre thrilled to have Burrow’s expertise. Burrow has previously caddied for players such as Scott Henry, Marcus Armitage, Garrick Porteous, Mike Lorenzo-Vera, and Haotong Li.
