BALTIMORE, Md. – Shedeur Sanders was officially named to the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award Top 25 Watch List on Monday, as announced by the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Educational Foundation, in partnership with A. O. Smith.
Currently ranked seventh in the nation for passing yards per game with an impressive 326.0, Sanders is tied for ninth with 14 touchdown passes and boasts a 70.1% completion rate, placing him 13th nationally. Since 2021, Sanders has accumulated over 10,000 passing yards, making him one of just four quarterbacks to achieve this milestone in Division I football. His career stats include 1,052 completions for 11,553 yards and 111 touchdowns, while maintaining an exceptional 20 interceptions. Sanders’ touchdowns rank second, and his interceptions are the fewest among Division I quarterbacks during this time.
This is Sanders’ debut on the Top 25 Watch List for the Golden Arm Award. He had previously been included on the preseason watch list and earned Golden Arm Player of the Week honors following his standout performance in week one, where he threw for 445 yards and four touchdowns to secure a 31-26 win over North Dakota State.
The Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award celebrates the nation’s top senior or upperclassman quarterback set to graduate. Finalists, semifinalists, and the eventual award recipient are chosen by a panel of prominent college football experts. In addition to on-field performance, the award highlights leadership, character, and contributions off the field.
The prestigious award will be presented on December 6, 2024, at the Four Seasons Hotel in Baltimore, Maryland, commemorating the legacy of Johnny Unitas, a legendary NFL quarterback with 18 seasons, 2,830 completions, and 290 touchdowns.
As part of its mission, the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Educational Foundation, with the support of A. O. Smith, provides financial aid to promising young athletes, continuing Unitas’ legacy of giving back.
