British Holidaymaker Found Dead on Majorca Golf Course Amid Investigation
Authorities in Majorca are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 61-year-old British tourist, who was found dead on one of the island’s premier golf courses. The incident occurred at the renowned Son Muntaner Golf Course, which is part of the prestigious European Tour Destinations association and is considered one of the most beautiful courses in Majorca.
The alarm was raised at approximately 5:45 p.m. yesterday when the man was discovered in a critical condition. Emergency responders were called to the scene following reports that the victim had sustained a severe head injury. Efforts to revive him lasted around 30 minutes, but despite their attempts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators are working to determine whether the tourist died as a result of an accidental fall or if he was struck on the head by a stray golf ball. Initial reports suggested he might have been hit by a ball, but police have indicated they will wait for the results of the autopsy, expected to take place over the weekend, before making any further comments regarding the cause of death.
Local sources reported that the man was playing golf with a group of friends when he disappeared after chasing a stray ball. His companions, concerned when he failed to return, began searching for him and eventually found him unconscious on the ground.
The case is currently being handled by investigators from the local National Police Homicide Unit, who are responsible for examining all unexplained deaths in the early stages of an investigation. The police have not yet released any official statements regarding the ongoing inquiry.
Son Muntaner Golf Course, situated between the ‘Na Burguesa’ mountain range and the bay of Palma, has not commented on the incident. Described online as offering a unique experience for players and enthusiasts, the course remains a popular destination on the island.
