Brooks Koepka’s Wife, Jena Sims, Reveals How Top Golf Stars Met Their Partners

Jena Sims, the wife of golfer Brooks Koepka, has opened up about how some of golf’s top superstars met their long-term partners, sharing that social media played a significant role in these connections.

Sims, 35, has often faced criticism for publicly admitting that she initiated contact with Koepka via Instagram DMs. The couple began chatting in 2015 and were married seven years later, welcoming their son last July. Their relationship has been featured on the Netflix series *Full Swing*, where Sims discussed the scrutiny she’s faced for reaching out to Koepka online.

“I’ve had a lot of criticism for telling the world that I slid into his DMs because it’s like I went after him,” Sims said on *The Scoop with Claire Rogers*. “People quickly judge that, but Brooks is special. He’s got no game; he would never come up to me in a bar! He’ll look me in my eye and say, ‘I cannot believe we’re married now and you literally slid into my DMs.’”

Sims revealed that Koepka isn’t the only golf star whose relationship began on social media. “I’ve talked to a couple of other girls – I’m not going to throw anyone under the bus – but some women married to top five, top 10 players in the world also slid into their husbands’ DMs. I’m just the only one who talks about it publicly.”

Koepka and Sims first met in person during the 2015 Masters, where Koepka spotted Sims in the crowd. Sims, who is from Georgia, attended the event with a friend who had tickets. She had informed Koepka of her plans, setting the stage for their first in-person encounter.

“I slid into his DMs in 2015. We chatted for a couple of months because the season was in full swing,” Sims explained. “I had a friend with Masters tickets and told Brooks, ‘I’m going to be here, this would be a great opportunity for us to meet.’ So, I guess I made the first two moves!”

Sims described their first meeting: “I think it was the Thursday round and I was there. I found him and he spotted me. This was during tournament play, between holes seven and eight, and he reached over the ropes and hugged me. The crowd around me was astonished, saying, ‘Oh my God, who is she? I can’t believe he just stopped the tournament play to meet you.’ That night, I met his entire family! We weren’t even dating; that was our first interaction.”

Sims and Koepka’s story highlights the modern ways relationships can begin and thrive, despite public perceptions and criticisms.
