“Browns Bring on Jacques Cesaire as New Defensive Line Coach”

The Cleveland Browns have made a significant addition to their coaching staff, with the hiring of Jacques Cesaire as the new defensive line coach, according to reports from the NFL Network. Cesaire, who spent the last two seasons with the Houston Texans, is set to take charge of coaching star player Myles Garrett, widely considered a frontrunner for the AP Defensive Player of the Year award.

This move comes as Cesaire steps into the shoes of Ben Bloom, who had been part of the Browns coaching staff since 2020. Although there hasn’t been an official announcement about Bloom’s departure, there’s speculation that he might continue with the team in a different role. Bloom’s coaching journey began in Cleveland in 2009 as a quality control coach. He returned to the Browns in 2020 as a senior defensive assistant and later took on the role of run game coordinator in 2021.

Cesaire’s tenure with the Texans concluded after the 2023 season when the team opted not to renew his contract. In Cleveland, he inherits the responsibility of overseeing a formidable defensive line led by All-Pro Myles Garrett, who topped the team with an impressive 14 sacks. The Browns also look to retain key defensive ends Ogbo Okoronkwo and Alex Wright, along with tackle Dalvin Tomlinson, contributing to the league’s top-rated defense.

Head Coach Kevin Stefanski has been proactive in filling coaching vacancies, securing Duce Staley as the running backs coach and appointing Tommy Rees to lead the tight ends. Despite interviewing five candidates, the team has yet to finalize the hire for the crucial offensive coordinator position, adding an element of anticipation to the Browns’ coaching lineup.
