In a nostalgic twist, Charlie Woods and Jacob Immelman were paired together at the Adam Scott Junior Championship, 16 years after their fathers’ memorable duel at the Masters. In 2008, Trevor Immelman clinched his only Major championship by defeating Tiger Woods by three shots at Augusta National.
Now, their sons are stepping into the spotlight. The first round of the junior tournament at The Falls Club of the Palm Beaches in Florida saw the next generation of golfers in action. Charlie Woods, after posting a round of 73, featuring two bogeys, four birdies, and a costly triple bogey, sits at +1 and tied for 27th. Jacob Immelman, with three bogeys and a double bogey, carded a 76 and is tied for 39th. The leader, Hampton Beebe, opened with an impressive seven-under-par 65, establishing a two-shot lead.
Jacob Immelman, 18, ranked just inside the AJGA’s top 1,000, has competed in two prior events and is set to continue his golfing journey at Clemson University, where he signed in November. Charlie Woods, 15, is in his second AJGA event following a T32 finish at the Will Lowery Junior Championship in March. He primarily competes on the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour and Junior PGA South Florida Tour and recently attempted to qualify for the US Men’s Open, shooting a nine-over-par 81 at local qualifying.
Tiger Woods, who attended the event, recently missed the cut at the PGA Championship but is set to compete in the US Open at Pinehurst No. 2, marking his first appearance in the tournament since 2020, following a special invitation.

As the sons of these golfing legends continue their development, the parallels to their fathers’ storied careers add a layer of intrigue and nostalgia to their budding rivalries.
