Tiger Woods’ son, Charlie, is eyeing a potential debut on the PGA Tour as he gears up to compete in the pre-qualifier for the Cognizant Classic. The 15-year-old prodigy is set to tee off at Lost Lake Golf Club in Hobe Sound, Florida, with aspirations of emulating his father’s success on the prestigious stage. With a prize pool of £7.1 million up for grabs and the participation of top-tier players such as Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry, Justin Rose, and Matt Fitzpatrick, the event presents a significant opportunity for Charlie to make his mark.
The pre-qualifier serves as one of four gateways for aspiring golfers to secure a coveted spot in the main event, part of the PGA Tour calendar. Approximately 25 players and those tied for positions will advance to the full qualifier scheduled for Monday, February 26. From there, only four players will clinch their positions in the Cognizant Classic, scheduled to take place from February 29 to March 3 at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens.
Charlie Woods has already demonstrated his potential in golf, having participated alongside his father in the last four PNC Championships. Despite Tiger’s recent withdrawal from the Genesis Invitational due to illness, Charlie remains focused on his own burgeoning career. Last year, he showcased his skills in the Notah Begay III Junior Golf National Championship, where he finished tied for 17th in the boys 14-15 division, with his father lending his support as his caddie. As Charlie embarks on his quest to qualify for the PGA Tour, all eyes will be on the young golfer as he strives to make his mark on the sport’s grandest stage.
