Charlie Woods, the budding golf prodigy, is vying for a coveted spot in the 2024 U.S. Open at Pinehurst, with Florida hosting the qualifying event on Thursday. At the Legacy Golf & Tennis Club in St. Lucie County, Woods found himself navigating the challenging course, making the turn at 4-over par. This qualifier is just a stepping stone on the path to the 124th U.S. Open, scheduled to take place at North Carolina’s prestigious Pinehurst Resort & Country Club (Course No. 2) in June.

Woods’ aspirations are clear: to secure one of the five spots available to advance to the final qualifying stage. This crucial stage unfolds over a rigorous 36-hole event spread across 13 venues over the coming months.

The U.S. Open qualifier marks another milestone in Woods’ impressive golf journey over the past year. In February, he tested his skills in the Cognizant Classic of the Palm Beaches qualifier, showcasing his talent on yet another stage. Additionally, he teamed up with his father in the PNC Championship, an unofficial team event on the PGA Tour Champions, adding to his burgeoning golf resume.

When he’s not competing on the national stage, Woods represents the Benjamin School in Palm Beach Gardens, where he plays varsity golf.
